Inventarisasi Hutan Nasional (IFN) mengambil pendekatan serupa. Ini mendefinisikan pohon sebagai tanaman berkayu yang memiliki batang telanjang di pangkalnya dan dapat tumbuh hingga ketinggian lebih dari atau sama dengan 5m ketika mencapai kedewasaan.
Tentu saja, beberapa pohon tumbuh hingga ketinggian yang benar-benar luar biasa. Redwood di California adalah pohon tertinggi di Bumi dan menarik pengunjung dari seluruh dunia. Mereka tumbuh hingga ketinggian lebih dari 90m - yang tertinggi bernama Hyperion dan mencapai ketinggian 115m ke langit.
Anatomi pohon
Pohon adalah tanaman tahunan, yang berarti mereka hidup selama bertahun-tahun, terkadang berabad-abad dan untuk beberapa spesies, beberapa milenium. Siklus hidup pohon berbeda dari spesies ke spesies, tetapi struktur dasar pohon tetap sama.

Kayu, daun, buah dan bunga
Ciri-Ciri Pohon - Kebanyakan orang mengasosiasikan pohon dengan kayu, daun, buah dan bunga – hal-hal yang kita lihat di luar. Kami umumnya memiliki ide bagus tentang seperti apa pohon itu dan kami mengajari anak-anak untuk mengenali pohon sejak usia muda.
Di bagian dalam, kayu juga disebut xilem, yang mati, sel tebal yang mengangkut air dan nutrisi dari tanah ke daun. Xilem terhubung ke semua bagian lain dari pohon untuk membentuk sistem berkelanjutan yang menjangkau seluruh tanaman dan memungkinkannya untuk hidup dan tumbuh.
