Britain's Got Talent may be scouring the country to find the 'new Susan Boyle'.

But it seems one contestant has better claims to the title than most.

Kerry-Anne Boyle, who appeared on Saturday night's show, revealed she is the singer's second cousin  -  although later admitted she has never actually met her.

Another talented Boyle?

Kerry-Anne Boyle, Susan Boyle's second cousin, sings on 'Britain's Got Talent' - she received mixed feedback from the judging panel

The 23-year-old, from Motherwell, in Lanarkshire, told judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan that her grandfather and Miss Boyle's father were brothers.

However, unlike Miss Boyle's stunning debut on the TV talent show last year, which has been watched by almost 100million people on YouTube, Kerry-Anne's performance of Sting's Fields Of Gold received a somewhat mixed response from the judges.

While Miss Holden and Morgan were quick to vote her through to the next round, Cowell hinted they were only doing so because of her link to Miss Boyle, who has been nicknamed SuBo by fans.

Miss Holden told Kerry-Anne at the Glasgow auditions: 'It is clearly genetic, you've got the Boyle factor', while Morgan added: 'It was an incredibly good performance.'

But Cowell said: 'I think that without the connection with Susan there wouldn't really be much interest to be honest.'

Instead, the task of wowing the music mogul was left to an 81-year-old grandmother, Janey Cutler.

Her powerful performance of an English version of Edith Piaf's Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien, was called 'spinetingling and astonishing' and has led to her being dubbed 'Nubo Skincare'.

Putting Miss Cutler, from Wishaw, in Lanarkshire, through to the next round, Morgan said: 'I've never heard anything like it.'

More than 55,000 people have already logged on to YouTube to watch her debut, while U.S.

TV networks CBS and NBC are understood to have contacted ITV about possible interviews with her.

Stunned: The judges agreed that Susan Boyle's first performance on the show was 'the biggest surprise ever'

It was an astonishing display from the Scot, who admitted to the judges that she'd know a few hard times - an understatement to say the least.

The depth of her heartache emerged over the weekend as she revealed that she had lost two husbands and a son, James, when he was just ten months old.

A source said: 'She still talks about him and remembers him as a happy child who was always giggling.'

Mrs Cutler's first husband - also called James - died of chest problems at 67 after 34 years of marriage.

A second marriage ended in heartbreak again when husband Peter, 76, died of broncho-pneumonia.

Mrs Cutler, who regularly sings karaoke in her local pub, was reluctant to try out for the show, fearing she was too old.

Close friend Terry Moore said: 'When I suggested that she enter Britain's Got Talent, Janey wasn't sure at first.
She said, "What, at my age?"

'But she entered online and by all accounts the judges loved her. She sounds like Shirley Bassey in her heyday.'

Mrs Cutler has seven children and 12 grandchildren.

She said: 'The comparisons with Susan are very flattering as she has had incredible success.

But I take no notice of all the fuss.

'I'm over the moon just to have been able to perform on the programme. This unexpected interest is making it even more of a dream come true.'

  • Susan Boyle's lawyers have written to two of her brothers to tell them to stop talking to the Press.
She is understood to be hurt Gerry and John Boyle have expressed concerns for her well-being.
